SUBJECT: Jubilee Year of HopeMemorandumAs the Universal Church looks toward the Jubilee Year 2025, the 2,025th anniversary of the Incarnation of our Lord, the Diocese of Tulsa is thrilled to support the Holy Father in this "event of great spiritual, ecclesial, and social significance in the life of the Church."Pope Francis stated in his February 2022 letter announcing the Jubilee 2025: "We must fan the flame of hope that has been given us and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far-sighted vision. The forthcoming Jubilee can contribute greatly to restoring a climate of hope and trust as a prelude to the renewal and rebirth that we so urgently desire..."This memorandum is meant to highlight some of the immediate significant dates for your planning purposes. A more detailed toolbox will be provided with guides to support our communities in living into the graces of this Year of Hope!
You can also visit the Diocesan website for all Jubilee events and information.The opening of the Jubilee Year of Hope for the Universal Church will take place on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024.The opening of the Jubilee Year of Hope for each diocese will take place on the Solemnity of the Holy Family, December 29, 2024.To open the Jubilee Year in the Diocese of Tulsa, we invite all of you to attend a short procession to Holy Family Cathedral from Centennial Park (1028 E. 6th Street) in downtown Tulsa and the reading of the Jubilee Proclamation by Bishop Konderla on Sunday December 29 at 2:00 pm. It is our hope that we have representation and participation from all of our communities as we enter into this year of grace. We ask parishes, schools, religious communities and other associations of the faithful to bring banners or other signs to identify each group.In addition, twelve pilgrim sites have been chosen for the faithful to visit around the diocese throughout the year to pray and strive for a greater integration of the theological virtue of Hope in their lives. Pilgrim passports are being created for the faithful to use to mark their participation in these prayer experiences.Each of these churches will host a First Saturday Mass at 10:00 am. Bishop Konderla will be the presider and homilist at each of these masses through the year. As you can see below the Holy See has given us themes each month to focus our prayer and service towards those in need of Hope!
