Last Thursday, the Church of St. Benedict, Broken Arrow hosted the 13th bi-annual Woman of Achievement luncheon and awards presented by the Tulsa Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. Sixteen women from parishes around the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma were honored.

In response to Pope Francis’ death, announced today by The Vatican, Most Rev. David Konderla, Bishop of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma, has issued the following statement:

As the state of Oklahoma prepares to mark the 30th anniversary of the deadliest act of domestic terrorism in U.S. history, Most Rev. David Konderla, Bishop of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma, has issued a statement urging prayer for continued healing.

Today, the USCCB announced its decision not to renew the cooperative agreements with the federal government related to children’s services and refugee support. Citing the government’s cancellation of many grants and the termination of the cooperative agreements to resettle refugees, Archbishop Broglio explained how the government’s decisions have forced the Conference to reconsider the best way to serve the needs of those seeking safe harbor from violence and persecution.

The Sisters have announced that they will be transitioning the governance of Monte Cassino Catholic School to its Board of Directors—a decision made after thoughtful prayer, discernment, and consultation with the Monastic Council, Bishop David Konderla, and Monte Cassino leadership.
